Ti-base fit clearance for printed prototypes ·
1Load prosthesis
Open an STL or PLY from your CAD or scanner, or try the demo to see how it works. Nothing leaves this computer.
2Repair
Fix the scan before you start: turn faces the right way, cut away what you do not want, and close holes. Skip it if the scan is clean. Next: insertion direction.
Normals
Outside faces show in the model color. Inside faces show in blue. Blue where you expect the outside means those faces point the wrong way: press Fix all, or Flip a piece. Blue seen through a hole is the inside, and that is correct.

Cut away
Marked faces show in coral. To take faces out of the mark, switch on Unmark and use Grow, Lasso or Brush. Grow stops at sharp creases, so a deep groove can stop it: add the rest with the Brush, or loop the whole tooth with the Lasso and Through. Delete takes the marked faces out and leaves a hole; close it below.

3Insertion direction
The direction the finished part comes off the model. Look straight down that path, then press Set from view. The gold arrow shows it. Closing the scan and filling undercuts both use this direction. Next: trim away messy edges.
4Trim edges
Cut away messy scan edges and anything you do not want. On an open scan the cut follows your line exactly. On a closed scan it cuts at once from the near side, to the depth you set, and leaves a hole you close in Repair. Next: close the scan.
Cut style
Snaps to a top-down view and removes that footprint through the part and its base — the base always follows your cut.
Depth
5Close scan
Open scans (tissue scans, partial jaws) become a watertight solid with a flat base. The base follows the insertion direction you set. Next: attachments, or paint offsets.
Base direction
Base height
Drag the gold ring on the plane, or use the slider. The plane can also sit below the scan to add base thickness. Everything below the plane is cut away.
Base outline on the edge
Land width 3.0 mm
A shelf around the scan. It leaves the scan edge straight out, at the height of the edge, and runs to the pale line. 0 turns it off.
The outline snaps to the very edge of the scan, seen down the base direction. Where the edge tucks in under a ridge, the outline follows the edge underneath: the wall and land start there, and the ridge above stays exactly as scanned (Undercut blockout fills it later). Move the outline inward with the slider, or press Move points and drag a gold point: it slides along the scan edge, and Shift moves it freely. Ctrl+Z or Undo move puts a point back. Moved inward, the outline cuts straight down through everything outside it.
Inside the outline the scan keeps its own original triangles, untouched. Only the walls and the base are new. Where the scan shows no gap (a bar buried in tissue), the solid follows the scan. It cannot invent space the scanner never saw.
6Attachments (beta)
For overdenture models with a bar in the scan. Find the rail, seat clips and slide them into place, give the bar clearance — the clips merge into the exported model.
Clip clearance — sides & top mm
The clip’s outside grows by this much in the export; the bore that rides the rail stays exact. A stand-in C-clip shape is used until the scanned clip arrives.
Bar clearance
Reach beyond the bar 0.3 mm
The selection spreads out from the rail over the bar and stops this far beyond the bar's surface, so it takes the bar and only a thin collar of tissue where the two meet. Bar surfaces land in the Bar clearance zone — set its value and touch up with the brush in Paint zones. Clips seat straight down the insertion path, so they never make an undercut.
7Paint offsets
Brush size 2.5 mm
Zones 1-8 select · E erase · B brush/rotate · [ ] size
mm wide
Next: build the offsets. Values are in millimetres of relief. Positive grows the model, leaving that much space for material. 0.000 keeps hard contact — use it for bar rests and tissue stops.
8Build offsets
Builds the model with your painted offsets. Check it, then hand it on to the undercut step. Trims and attachments are built here too. With nothing painted, Build uses the closed scan as it is, so you can hollow or export it.
Build settings
Zone transition 1.2 mm
Working resolution auto
On a closed model, Build keeps your scan: unpainted areas stay the scan's own triangles, and painted zones lift the scan surface by their offset, texture and all. Zone transition 0 gives a straight wall along the painted edge; above 0 the lift ramps over that width. Blockout fills on the grid, and the scan stays everywhere the fill does not reach.
Seam smoothing mm
Where a wall joins the offset or the tissue, the surface is smoothed over this band so the seam is one soft line. 0 keeps the seam sharp.
9Undercut blockout
Fills undercuts along the insertion direction you set, so the part slides on and off. Works on the model with the offsets built in. Next: inspect, then export.

2Select channels
Rotate to look into a ti-base channel, then click its inner wall. The wall turns gold as far as the next sharp step. Click the wall past the step to add it. Repeat for each channel.

OptionalPrinter profiles
Save your dialed-in clearance per printer + resin combo. Stored in this browser.
OptionalReduce mesh
Optional, just before export: smaller files for milling software, without wrecking the edges. Feature edges survive as clean rows of evenly spaced snap points, and the deviation the reduction cost is measured, not assumed.
Accuracy 25 µm
Feature edges 35°
Corners where edges meet never move. Open borders never erode. Every accepted change is priced against the original surface, and the number reported afterwards is measured, not assumed. On walls built by Close open scan the worst figure can read above the budget — those walls are grid-built, and smoothing their grid texture is not an accuracy loss.
4Export
Original file is never modified. Export is tagged with mode and value.
